Katinka Hosszu and Radoslaw Kawecki wins gold medals – European Swimming Championships

Katinka Hosszu and Radoslaw Kawecki won gold medals of the Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) and Men’s 200m backstroke respectively at the 2012 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Chartres, France.

Hosszu stayed considerably ahead of her challengers from the start and tapped the wall for gold medal by producing a nice effort of 2 minutes and 05.78 seconds.

The gold medallist was traced by Hannah Miley, who was 0.43 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing blockade for silver medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 06.21 seconds.

Miley was followed by Zsuzsanna Jakabos, who was 0.45 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and finished third in the race by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 06.66 seconds.

Jakabos was chased by Siobhan-Marie O’Connor, who stayed more than two body lengths slower from her foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 08.85 seconds for fourth place.

Fifth finest spot of the race was secured by Katrine Holm Soerensen, who remained nearly two body lengths slower and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 10.67 seconds.

Afterwards, Kawecki occupied gold medal of the Men’s 200m discipline. He enjoyed a lead of just a stroke over his closest swimmer and proved his mettle for the title by producing an effort of 1 minute and 48.51 seconds.

His gold winning effort stayed 0.90 seconds faster from Peter Bernek, who stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by producing an effort of 1 minute and 49.41 seconds.

The second position holder was chased by Benjamin Stasiulis, who remained 2.40 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and posted a time of 1 minute and 51.81 seconds for bronze medal.

The third fastest swimmer was trailed by Christian Diener, who remained 0.66 seconds behind and concluded his race in fourth place by reporting a time of 1 minute and 52.47 seconds.

Fifth spot of the race was obtained by Fabio Laugeni of Italy, who stayed only two strokes behind and hit the finishing end by posting a time of 1 minute and 52.81 seconds.

Furthermore, the session came to an end after the conclusion of all scheduled events.
