Fire at Karachi State Life building claims one life

According to media reports fire broke out at the eighth floor of the 15-storey State Life building situated near Zainab Market.
A man, in a desperate attempt, jumped out of the window to save his life and got severely injured. He was taken to hospital but unfortunately he succumbed to injuries in hospital.
Firefighters have entered the building and trying to control the fire and helping people to rescue. Several people are trapped inside building.
Chief fire officer while speaking to the media said the fire has been brought under control. He said the fire erupted in electric wires, adding that people are being evacuated from the building.
Earlier on September 11, 250 workers at the Ali Enterprises garment factory in Karachi were suffocated or burnt alive when a massive fire tore through the building during the evening shift. The factory made ready-to-wear clothing for Western export.
Another fire broke out in a plastic factory in the city on October 29. Luckily, there was no loss of life, however, 750 people were left jobless as several portions of the building collapsed.
