Michael McBroom and Celina Li win gold medals – AT&T Winter National Championships

Michael McBroom and Celina Li won gold medal of the Men’s 500 yards freestyle and Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) at the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships in Austin, USA.

McBroom stayed slightly ahead of his challenger and tapped the wall for gold medal by producing a time of 4 minutes and 16.08 seconds.

The gold medallist was traced by Cristian Quintero, who stayed 0.48 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing wall for silver medal by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 16.56 seconds.

Similarly, Matthew Barber remained stayed 0.06 seconds slower from his former swimmer and managed to secure bronze medal of the race by producing a time of 4 minutes and 16.62 seconds.

Barber was chased by Nikita Lobintsev, who suffered a deficit of one and a half second from his and appeared on the finishing wall for fourth position by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 18.10 seconds.

Fifth position of the race was gained by Clark Smith, who remained 0.18 seconds slower and concluded his race in a time of 4 minutes and 18.28 seconds.

Afterwards, Li dominated the Women’s 200m IM. Li remained just an inch ahead of her toughest challenger and touched the wall for gold medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 55.28 seconds.

The champion was followed by Stina Gardell, who was 0.04 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall for silver medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 55.32 seconds.

Third spot of the event was obtained by Melissa Franklin, who remained 0.56 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 55.88 seconds.

The bronze medallist was traced by Jessica Schmitt, who was 0.61 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall for fourth place with an effort of 1 minute and 56.49 seconds.

In addition, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts in the 50m discipline while the session concluded after the completion of all listed events.
