Steven Finn available for third Test against India
Monday, December 3rd, 2012 4:27:13 by Rana Nasir GhafoorEngland pace star Steven Finn, after missing first two Test against India due to thigh injury, has declared himself available for the third encounter, scheduled to be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
The Englishmen levelled the series 1-1 by taking a comprehensive 10-wicket victory in the second game. The success came after nine-wicket drubbing at Ahmedabad.
The English spinners enjoyed limelight in the second game, as both Monty Panesar and Graeme Swann picked up plenty of wickets.
The tourists are unlikely to change their bowling attack for the third game, but Finn has stated that he will be available if needed.
“If I’m needed, I’ll be ready for the (third) Test. I’ve bowled about six overs at the nets and feeling quite okay. It feels really nice if your bowling coach is impressed. But I’m not the one who is going to read too much into it. I would stay in my bubble,"
said Finn.
"For sometime, I felt I would have to leave early. Previously I thought to be back by the second Test, but it took longer than I expected," he added.
Stuart Broad is currently under plenty of pressure following his below-par performance in the second Test. The right-hander pacer remained wicketless, and did not bowl in the second innings.
Many pundits believe Finn should be included in the playing XI in place of Broad. But Finn himself defended his teammate, saying that Broad is just going through a bad patch.
"It’s not that he is drifted away a million miles. He is a world class bowler with more than 50 Tests under his belt. I’m sure he will be out of this slump," the lanky pacer opined.
"I hope there is little bit for everybody. The practice wicket has been playing very true, very well. If that is any reflection then I think it (match wicket) would be a good wicket with spin later on.”
"For fast bowlers, you need the attitude anywhere you bowl. We have done well so far and the attitude has been spot on. It’s showing in the series also," he insisted.
