Suicide attack injures five cops in Bannu
Tuesday, December 4th, 2012 10:48:50 by Web DeskA suicide bomber attacked a police station in Bannu, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa, leaving at least five people including three cops injured in the wee hours of Tuesday.
According to the police, the incident took place when a bomber driving an explosive-laden vehicle ripped through the Habib police station; resultantly, five people including three policemen received wounds.
The explosion also damaged the police stations while glasses of building located near the site of the incident were smashed into pieces. The injured were shifted to DHQ hospital.
According to the media reports, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. Ehsanullah Ehsan told the media on phone from unknown location that they carried out the suicide attacks on the police station. He further stated they wouldn’t spare them and target them again.
He noted, “We will continue to target police and security forces because they are killing our mujahedin.” According to the data assembled by research institutes, suicide and bomb attacks blamed on insurgents have killed more than 5,200 people across the country.
