Corruption can be ended only in 9 days; claims PTI chief Imran Khan

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has claimed that corruption could be ended only in nine days, adding that he had a list of around 200-300 corrupt people who he would go after first.

Speaking at Agenda Aaj Tak organized by India Today, the former cricketer-turned-politician said, “After the elections our party will be elected that will not hurt from taking big decisions. If you have a clean PM & ministers & a clear majority with 1 party, you can end corruption in even 9 days.”

The former captain of the national cricket team was in India to promise peace between the two uneasy neighbors and set himself apart from Pakistan’s incumbent politicians.

Speaking particularly about corruption and terrorism in Pakistan, he observed, “I want Pak soil not to be used for any kind of terror. If we win with majority, we will have moral authority for this.” Acknowledging that ending terror was in Pakistan’s interest, he said they have 50,000 lives because of terror.

Imran Khan commenting on Kashmir issue said he was told by three former foreign ministers about the success of the back- channel talks between Islamabad and New Delhi when the Vajpayee government was in power.

“We were close to a deal on Kashmir once. I’ve a solution but can’t reveal it,” he added. He also said he has no glamorous parties to go to anymore. He made it clear that he has just one party – PTI.

Sitting in the audience, actor Aamir Khan complimented Khan for his convictions. “I hope you get support to win. If you do win, I’ll come to celebrate & bring friends too.” He noted.

Generally prompt with his answers, he got stuck at one. A member of the audience asked why some of the preferences were western though he was against US. “I always thought I’d marry a Pakistani. But some things are never in our control,” he said with a smile.
