Stand Up for Malala: President Zardari in Paris to represent Pakistan in Malala meet

The conference on “Stand Up for Malala: Girls ‘ right to education that is jointly being organized by Pakistan and UNESCO at its Paris headquarters on Monday, radio Pakistan reported.
Special Malala Fund will be established on this occasion to raise the funds for the help of girls’ education throughout the world and Pakistan will announce to provide seed money to establish this Fund.
The event coinciding with International Human Rights Day and it will bring together representatives of governments‚ UN partners‚ international and bilateral organizations‚ foundations‚ donors‚ civil society‚ academics‚ religious leaders‚ eminent personalities and other stakeholders.
President Asif Zardari also met Malala at a British hospital where she was shifted for treatment days after the Taliban attacked her in Swat in October.
Prime Minister of France Jean-Marc Aryalt‚ UN Special Envoy for Global Education and former Prime Minister of UK Gordon Brown and many other leaders will also attend the conference.
Pakistani Ambassador to France Shafqat Saeed has said the relations between the two countries will further strengthen with the visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to Paris.
In an interview‚ he said the two sides during the visit will discuss all issues‚ including the situation in the region‚ Afghanistan‚ and impact of the withdrawal of ISAF troops from that country by 2014.
French Ambassador to Pakistan Philippe Thiebaud welcoming visit of President Asif Ali Zardari to Paris has hoped that it will further promote bilateral ties.
In an interview‚ he said it is an important symbol of friendship and cooperation that has been nurtured throughout the history of relations between the two countries.
The French Ambassador said France and Pakistan are long lasting partners and have developed since 1947‚ a multifaceted bilateral relationship.
Answering a question‚ he said present level of bilateral trade between the two countries exceeds one billion Euros and with an average of six hundred millions Euros‚ the balance is in favour Pakistani.
The Ambassador said from a French perspective‚ sectors like agriculture‚ agro-industries‚ utilities‚ urban development‚ and energy looked the most promising.
Replying to a question on cooperation in military sector‚ he said France and Pakistan have been maintaining regular dialogues on a number of issues.
He said recent meetings of security commission this year have also been successful in pursuing bilateral dialogue.
On the cooperation in education sector‚ the French Ambassador said that his country is the second higher education destination for Pakistani students in the European Union after England.
