Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, Friday embarked on an official visit to India to review implementation of visa accord signed in Islamabad in September.

The Interior Minister will hold official talks with Indian counterpart Sushil Kumar Shinde, and also call on the Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh.

Both sides will discuss cooperation against terror with special focus on investigation into the Mumbai attacks.

Talking to newsmen in New Delhi‚ the Minister said Pakistan has always condemned terrorism. He said Pakistan itself is a victim of terrorism and rendered many sacrifices during the war to extirpate the menace, radio Pakistan reported.

To a question‚ he said if India has solid proofs against Jamaatud Daawa leader Hafiz Saeed‚ it should share it with Pakistan. “We arrested Hafiz Saeed thrice‚ but he was always released by the court for want of concrete evidence”. He stressed the need to avoid negative statements, which spoil bilateral relations.

India alleges that Saeed’s Jamaat-ud-Dawaa had been behind the Mumbai attacks, the charges denied by the group.

Rehman Malik said non-state actors do not want peace and friendship between Pakistan and India. The dialog process must continue between the two countries to foil the designs of these elements.

Earlier‚ talking to newsmen at Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad‚ he said people from India and Pakistan‚ especially senior citizens‚ businessmen‚ traders and journalists‚ will be able to easily visit each other’s country‚ which will go a long way in promoting trade and cultural relations.

The Minister described the visa accord as a gift from leadership of both the countries to their coming generations.

He said peace and stability between the two countries will usher in a new era of progress and prosperity in this region.

Rehman Malik said during his visit‚ he would give message to the entire world that Pakistan and India are peace loving nations‚ believe in coexistence and want to live as peaceful neighbours.
