PTI’s Imran Khan demands prevention of pre-poll rigging
Friday, December 14th, 2012 1:17:16 by Faisal FarooqCriticizing Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslims League-Nawaz (PML-N) for using taxpayers’ money for their publicity, PTI chief Imran Khan on Thursday demanded prevention of pre-poll rigging.
Speaking to the media outside the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Khan said that the PML-N is using its electoral mark lion’s icon on laptops distributed among students to promote their political advertisement.
He said the PPP is using Benazir Income Support Program as publicity stunt to gain public support for coming general elections. He said pre-poll rigging must be stopped adding that Election Commissioner agreed to his recommendations.
The former cricketer said the commission had accepted his party’s request to deploy the army at sensitive polling stations. Khan said he had complete faith in the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).
Khan further stated that the two major political parties of the country had started work on development project. He was also critical of the parliamentarians not filing their taxes while cases were being filed against his party.
He noted, “Only Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has the capability to build a new Pakistan. My party workers will prove their capabilities in the next general elections.”
In the wake of his meeting with CEC here, the PTI Chief said that he discussed with Justice (Retd) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim various administrative issues pertaining to much-awaited general elections as well as shared proofs of pre-polls rigging being committed by the two major political parties.
Imran Khan went on saying that fake cases were being registered against PTI’s leaders in Punjab to victimize them. He suggested that voters’ list be posted on election commission’s website after final corrections.
He said that parliamentarian should declare their actual assets, adding that only a rich can contest election in Pakistan, as millions of rupees are being spent on taking voters to polling stations. He said that PTI’s successful public gatherings in South Punjab are answer for those who were of the views that tsunami is fast vanishing.
Imran Khan said that the Supreme Court should take steps for giving right to cast vote to 4.5 million registered overseas Pakistanis. Imran Khan said that the most of the parliamentarians don’t have NTN number, whose assets are increasing but they are paying no tax.
