Ireland’s talented player Jon Mccreedy defied all odds and reached into Men’s Singles final after crushing his higher ranked team-mate Adam Mcallister in semi-final clash at Connacht U15 Open at Sligo, Ireland, on Sunday, December 16.

The impressive Mccreedy, who participated in this tournament as an un-seeded shuttler, turned into potential contender for the title as he showed remarkable skills and outplayed the third seeded Mcallister in just 21 minutes.

Mccreedy was in smashing form in the arena as he played to his maximum potential and remained successful in thrashing his higher ranked challenger in straight games with a dominating margin on the board.

On the other hand, the higher ranked Mcallister failed to play positive badminton as he conceded many points by playing negative shots and eventually lost the set without proving his worth.

In the opening set, the aggressive Mccreedy delivered a spectacular performance in the arena as he played strokes with deception from starting rallies.

The unmatched variations in Mccreedy’s shots helped him to put up superb show and he maintained his superiority against his higher ranked opponent on court.

Mccreedy advanced with an impressive speed in the first part and remained in lead on the board until the one-minute break.

Mcallister tried his best to put up strong resistance but could not take charge of rallies and remained trailing in the concluding half.

It was an uninterrupted ride for the in-form Mccreedy who did not face any reasonable opposition from his challenger and won the first game with a reasonable 21-11 difference on the board.

Mccreedy did not lose his concentration at any stage in the starting half of second game as he played with control and aggression.

The well directed smashes and net killings kept Mccreedy ahead of his opponent all the way until the one-minute break in second set.

Mccreedy was calm and composed on court in the final points of second set and claimed the second game with a sound difference of 21-14.

The impressive Mccreedy ended up this semi-final encounter in an inspiring fashion with a stunning 21-11 and 21-14 score on the board.
