Ryan Lochte and Paul Biedermann secure gold medals – FINA Swimming Championships
Monday, December 17th, 2012 4:09:16 by Mursil Mehmood ButtRyan Lochte and Paul Biedermann secured gold medals of the Men’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) and 400m freestyle respectively at the 2012 FINA World Swimming Championships in Turkey.
Lochte stayed in a prominent lead over his following swimmer and shattered his own world mark with a wonderful timing of 1 minute and 49.63 seconds.
His gold finish remained three body lengths ahead of his closest swimmer, Daiya Seto, who raked silver medal of the race by touching the wall with a nice effort of 1 minute and 52.80 seconds.
Seto was trailed by Laszlo Cseh, who was just 0.09 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and hit the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 52.89 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the event was gained by Kenneth To, who stayed 0.53 seconds apart and concluded his race in a time of 1 minute and 53.42 seconds.
To was chased by Conor Dwyer, who remained 0.57 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and touched the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 53.99 seconds for fifth place.
Afterwards, Biedermann snared gold medal of the Men’s 400m freestyle. He faced strong competition from his opponent in the race but with his exceptional pace, Biedermann managed to surface on the finishing wall for the title by producing a time of 3 minutes and 39.15 seconds.
The gold medallist was traced by Yun Hao, who remained 0.33 seconds slower from his former finisher and tapped the wall for silver medal with an effort of 3 minutes and 39.48 seconds.
Third best spot of the race was secured by Mads Glaesner, who was 0.61 seconds slower from his preceding swimmer and hit the wall with an effort of 3 minutes and 40.09 seconds.
Glaesner was followed by Matthew Stanley, who stayed 0.92 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 3 minutes and 41.01 seconds for fourth place.
In addition, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the prize distribution ceremony of the tournament.
