Unknown militants kill four people in Quetta
Monday, December 17th, 2012 11:02:43 by Web DeskUnidentified men on Monday gunned down four people including three policemen and a director public relation in two different incidents in the city.
Despite ban on pillion riding in Quetta city of Balochistan, the attackers managed to target another high-profile government official.
According to police and local sources, unknown assailants opened fire on a vehicle of Director Public Relation Khadim Hussain Noori in Jinnah Road area. Resultantly, Noori died on the spot while a police constable was injured. The body and wounded cop were shifted nearby hospital.
In another incident, unidentified men shot three policemen dead in Liaquat Bag area of the city. The cops were identified as Rajab Ali, Abdul Rauf and Sangeen Khan.
It is vital to mention here that the firing incidents continued in the provincial metropolis despite tall claims by the law enforcement agencies.
Balochistan, of which Quetta is the capital, is rife with Taliban militancy, sectarian violence targeted against minority Shia Muslims and a regional insurgency waged by separatists.
Violence has surged in the province this year and human rights activists have raised concerns about an increase in targeted killings. In September, the advocacy group Human Rights Watch said more than 100 Shias had been killed in sectarian attacks in Balochistan this year.
