Consistent economic policies will be ensured: President Zardari

President Asif Ali Zardari has said that consistent economic policies will be ensured in the country.

While addressing 36^th Export Award Ceremony in Karachi on Tuesday night, he said that the PPP led government made constitutional reforms and is continuing war against terrorism throughout the country.

He said we will make Pakistan more progressive if we are given next five years. The President said the upcoming general elections will be free‚ fair and transparent.

He also strongly condemned the attack on polio field workers in Karachi and Peshawar in which women workers involved in polio eradication campaign lost their lives.

The President directed the Chief Secretaries of Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces to conduct an enquiry into the incidents and submit the reports within forty-eight hours.

Paying tribute to the services rendered by the polio field teams‚ the President said that they have been instrumental in eradication of the disease from the country.

Five anti-polio campaigners including four women were gunned down in Karachi and Peshawar in an hour in separate incidents on Tuesday while World Health Organization has halted the drive in the provinces with immediate effect.

The president said that the attacks on the activists were unfortunate and the government is committed to free Pakistan from polio disease.
