Santi Cazorla’s hat-trick downs Reading at Madejski Stadium – Football News

Spanish playmaker, Santi Cazorla, hits treble as Arsenal outshined Reading at the Madejski Stadium.

Arsenal displayed spectacular individual performances to crush the home side with a 5-2 score line. They fired three goals in the opening half and regardless of conceding two in the latter half, the Gunners were able to seal the match with a 5-2 score line.

Lukasz Podolski scored the opener in the 14^th minute and led his side take the initial lead. The FC Kohn native then set-up the second goal as he crossed Cazorla who eventually netted the ball and led Arsenal take a 2-0 lead. Two minutes after that, the Spaniard slid the ball in again from eight yards and made 3-0 lead.

Arsene Wenger’s side kept their momentum rolling in the second half and Cazorla smashed his hat-trick after receiving a beautiful pass from Podolski.

Reading made some changes after that as Adam Le Fondre replaced Pavel Pogrebnyak and Hal Robson-Kanu took over from Noel Hunt. The changes were effective as after four minutes of substitution, Le Fondre took advantage of Arsenal’s terrible defending and hit a consolation goal for the home side. Adding further to the Gunners’ misery, Kanu set-up the second goal for the home side and eventually lowered trail by 2-4.

The visiting side re-focused after that as Theo Walcott picked up ball from Cazorla and slid it into the net, eventually clobbering a 5-2 score line.

Arsenal suffered a shocking exit from the Capital One Cup at the hands of the Bradford City in the quarter-finals. The score was levelled at 1-1 but the struggling gunners failed to convert their chances in the second half of the extra time and then displayed poor performances in penalty.

With this spectacular victory, Gunners re-gained their strength and gained confidence boost. They are now just two points behind Tottenham Hotspurs and are standing at number fifth in the Barclays English Premier League.
