PM Ashraf urges political parties to quit politics of allegations
Wednesday, December 19th, 2012 6:38:29 by Web DeskPrime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Wednesday said Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) pursues the politics of peoples’ interests and believes in serving the masses without any discrimination.
Addressing a public meeting in Haripur, the premier recalled that before founding of the PPP by Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto‚ the politics was confined to drawing rooms and only elite were involved in the political process. He said it was Shaheed Bhutto who gave people their voice and universal franchise.
The Prime Minister appealed to all political parties to do issue-oriented politics and do not indulge in politics of allegations as this would not help strengthen democracy.
Raja Pervez Ashraf said people are politically conscious and they would make better choice in the general elections. He said as PPP talks about right of the people and takes measures to empower them‚ that is why it has all along been target of the opponents and even its leadership was eliminated.
Pointing out that the PPP cannot be wiped out by eliminating its leaders as its roots are among people, Benazir Bhutto continued mission of his father and now President Asif Ali Zardari‚ Bilawal Bhutto and Aseefa Bhutto are championing the cause of the down-trodden people.
The Prime Minister said country’s future lies in democracy and strengthening of Parliament. He said the coalition government fulfills the promises made by it.
He said every political party has the right to take part in the coming general elections. However‚ he asked all the political parties to do politics of issues and not allegations. He said politics of allegations will not strengthen democracy.
He said it is for the first time that the civilian democratic government is going to complete its mandated tenure. He also appreciated coalition partners to joint hands in the difficult circumstances.
