Syed Modi International: Nozomi Okuhara sends Mohita Sahdev packing in first round

The in-form Nozomi, who is the sixth seed in Women’s Singles main draw of the championship, played with terrific precision against Mohita and easily wrapped up victory while taking just 20 minutes of the court time.
Japanese shuttler was on a different level as she played terrific badminton by employing her hard-to-learn skills and eventually ended up this contest in straight games with a completely one-sided score on the board.
On the other hand, the lower ranked Mohita was shocked with the aggression and perfect play of her Japanese rival. She failed to show up her brilliance and ultimately crashed out without proving her worth.
Nozomi performed extremely well from the starting rallies of first game as she played with remarkable speed and took over the control of the game.
The hard-to-learn variations in Nozomi’s strokes helped her to continue her domination against her challenger in the arena.
Until the end of first part of first set, the in-form Nozomi attained a strong position on board by setting up a sufficient gap.
Mohita tried to put up strong resistance but could not take charge of the game and remained trailing in the ending half.
The in-form Nozomi continued hitting powerful smashes in targeted areas and eventually took the opening game with a one-sided 21-5 margin on the score board.
Nozomi did not lose her supremacy at any stage in the starting part of second set as she played with control and aggression.
The powerful smashes and wonderful net play kept Nozomi ahead of her challenger all the way until the end of first half in second set.
In the ending part of second game, the impressive Nozomi continued her smooth sailing and easily grabbed the second set by a stunning total of 21-8.
Japanese player remained successful in beating her un-seeded Indian challenger in a comfortable fashion with a lopsided 21-5 and 21-8 score on the board.
