Pakistan players get lucrative packages in Bangladesh Premier League

During the auction, Pakistani players Shahid Afridi and Imran Nazir were included in the golden category which led to them receiving some of the highest paid contracts. Imran received a $280,000 contract from the Chittagong Kings while Shahid Afridi received a $275,000 contract from the Dhaka Gladiators.
The players have been split into four categories. The highest rated group entitled ‘Golden’ has a base price of US$ 75,000 for the foreign players and $ 40,000 for the local players. The majority of the 134 foreign players available for auction are from Pakistan (51), West Indies (25) and England (25).
Former Pakistani cricketer Azhar Mehmood was given a $206,000 contract and will represent the Barisal Burners who also offered a $101,500 contract to Saeed Ajmal. Shoaib Malik was given a $85,000 contract from the Khulna Royal Bengals.
Bangladeshi star all-rounder Shakib ul Hasan received the highest contract of $365,000 to play for the Dhaka Gladiators. The Sylhet Royals selected Bangladeshi Captain Mushfiqur Rahim by offering him a $280,000 contract.
