After a hard-fought game, India overcame Pakistan by 2-1 in the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy played on Monday at Al-Rayyan Stadium, Doha.

Rupinderpal Singh of India has scored the first goal of the match in the 36th minute, putting India ahead at 1-0.

In the 51st minute of the game, India managed to double the tally and made the game tough for the Greenshirts. Pakistan was still struggling to get off the mark as score is 2-0.

After wasting many attempts, Pakistan scored their first goal on penalty corner. Score is now 2-1. However, this sole goal couldn’t save the Greenshirts from a defeat.

A total of seven penalty corners were given in the match: three to Pakistan and four to India.

After playing their four matches, India is still unbeaten. They beat China 4-0 in their first match of the tournament. They beat Japan 3-1 in their second match before giving an 11-0 humiliating defeat to minnows Oman yesterday.

For Pakistan, it was their first loss of the event as they have beaten Oman 8-3 in their first match and China 5-2 in the second. They were held to a 3-3 draw by Malaysia Sunday.

Pakistan will play its last match on December 26 against Japan and it will have to win the game if it wants to secure a place in the finals of the tournament.
