Lindaweni Fanetri wraps up Women’s Singles title at Syed Modi International India GPG 2012

In the final encounter, Fanetri showed her supremacy on court and remained successful in defeating the second seeded P. V. Sindhu of India.
The impressive Fanetri, who was the seventh seed in the main draw, put up superb show of top class badminton and thrashed her local rival in a thrilling battle that took 73 minutes of non-stop action from both sides.
Indonesian shuttler found a good start in the title match but lost her focus in the second game. However, she came back strongly in the decider and won the match with a close margin in rubber games.
On the other hand, the higher ranked Indian player put up strong show throughout the battle but failed to play positively in the final game and lost the match with a respectable total on the board.
Fanetri showed a wonderful aggression in the arena from the initial points of first set by building a huge pressure on her opponent.
The hard-to-learn variations in Fanetri’s shots helped her to maintain her domination against her challenger in the arena.
It was Fanetri who did not show any respect to her spirited challenger in the starting half and took a tremendous lead in the arena.
The aggressive Fanetri remained comfortable in the arena after the mid-game interval as she played with the same approach.
Fanetri did not reduce the pace of the game at any stage and comfortably grabbed the first set with a stunning 21-15 margin on the board.
However, the Indian lady showed her brilliance in the following game by playing positive badminton and stayed in lead until the break.
After the interval, Fanetri played attacking badminton but failed to stop the progress of Sindhu and lost the set with a reasonable margin of 18-21.
In the deciding set, Fanetri became quick in taking the bird from all areas and remained in commanding position until the one-minute break.
After the interval, Sindhu failed to show strong performance as she could not shake the confidence of Fanetri who played better game and secured the set with a decent 21-18 margin on the board.
Fanetri bagged the Women’s Singles title by beating the local shuttler in rubber games with a thrilling margin of 21-15, 18-21 and 21-18.
