Lydia Cheah Li Ya tames Sannatasah Saniru in Women’s Singles Group B at National Circuit GP Finals

Malaysia’s impressive shuttler Lydia Cheah Li Ya continued her staggering run on court and toppled Sannatasah Saniru in Women’s Singles Group B at Maybank National Circuit GP Finals 2012 in Malaysia, on Friday, December 28.

The in-form Lydia, who is the second seed in the tournament, showed a wonderful performance and remained successful in giving a severe treatment to her lower ranked challenger in 32 minutes.

Lydia was on a different level while playing against Sannatasah and she eventually wrapped up a straight-set victory by putting up a decent total on the score board.

On the other hand, the fourth seeded Sannatasah played impressive badminton particularly in the second game but failed to prove her worth in the ending points and lost the match in straight games.

Lydia Cheah showed her aggression on court from the initial rallies of first set by creating a huge pressure on her challenger.

The impressive variations in Lydia Cheah’s strokes helped her to continue her supremacy against her opponent on court.

Lydia Cheah progressed with a superb speed in the starting part and remained in lead on score board until the interval.

Sannatasah tried to put up strong resistance but could not take control of the game and remained struggling in the concluding half.

The in-form Lydia Cheah remained consistent in executing powerful shots in targeted areas and grabbed the first set with an inspiring score of 21-13.

In the second game, Sannatasah also played positive badminton and did not let her challenger build up a huge lead until the end of opening half.

After the one-minute interval, both ladies continued showing up a strong performance in the arena as they did not let the pace of rallies down and reached at 20-20.

At this crucial stage, Lydia Cheah played with superb precision and managed to score the ending points and wrapped up the second game with a close margin of 22-20.

The impressive Lydia Cheah remained successful in winding up this Women’s Singles clash in a thrilling fashion as she ended up the contest in straight games with a 21-13 and 22-20 score on the board.
