PPP’s Central Executive Commmittee vows to strengthen the democracy in Pakistan
Friday, December 28th, 2012 11:31:53 by Web DeskPaying rich tributes to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto on her 5th martyrdom anniversary, Pakistan Peoples’ Party’s (PPP) Central Executive Committee (CEC) has expressed determination that the party will continue its struggle to strengthen and stabilize democracy in the country.
The meeting held at Naudero on Thursday night was jointly chaired by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and discussed overall political situation in the country.
The meeting reaffirmed that struggle for completion of the mission of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed to strengthen democracy in the country will continue.
Briefing media about the meeting of the CEC‚ Federal Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said that the present assemblies will complete their tenure on 16th March. He said the caretaker setup will be installed after that day while the elections will be held around 16th May next year.
Responding to a question‚ he said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari did not criticise superior judiciary while addressing the public meeting. He said‚ Bilawal said the party wants justice for Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto from the courts.
The Minister said that PPP Chairman’s speech sent a clear message to the supporters of democracy‚ the institutions and forces which were opposed to them.
When asked about the 10th of next month deadline given by a religious political party for bringing a neutral caretaker setup‚ the Minister said PPP government had never been afraid of such threats.
Qamar Zaman Kaira said that some forces want to create an Egypt like situation in Pakistan but the new trends in politics introduced by the PPP had blocked way for the adventurers.
He said second meeting of the PPP’s central executive committee will soon be called to decide the future course of action for the national politics.
