Monday, December 31st, 2012 5:34:52 by Shahrukh SohailHabib Bank were able to overcome the Karachi giants and kept their struggle to stay in the Premier League alive following a lively 3-1 encounter.
HBL boss Yousuf Khan was pleased with the result and claimed that such wins could eventually keep his side in the Pakistani top flight.
“The team played extremely well and outclassed the rivals. The winning margin could have been different had we not missed a handful of opportunities,” said Yousuf.
“Had our boys played like this in the earlier matches, we could have been in safer position today. Now we have to face Army, KRL and WAPDA in our final three games and I hope if the team played with the same spirit we would spring surprise in those matches as well,” the manager was quoted as saying to the media.
On the other hand, KPT’s Mohammad Asif lamented his team’s consistency and claimed that they have to string together positive results, otherwise they will struggle to maintain their position in the League.
“I wonder why our team is not consistent. It is strange that our team plays well against tough teams but fails to demonstrate its real power against a weaker side,” Asif wondered.
“Although we have averted relegation, the boys should realise that they should improve the standings of the team,” the tactician said while talking to reporters.
