Tuesday, January 8th, 2013 12:31:22 by Web DeskShahrukh Jatoi, the main accused in the Shahzeb Khan’s murder case, has been arrested from Dubai with the assistance of Interpol. Police is making arrangements to bring him to Pakistan.
Earlier, a non-bailable arrest warrant had been issued by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) against Shahrukh Jatoi. DIG West Ali Baloch departed for Dubai to arrest the key suspect. Police have already arrested Siraj Talpur, another main accused in the murder of Shahzeb Khan, along with three of his friends on Saturday.
Police sprang into action on Friday after the Supreme Court directed concerned authorities to arrest the accused in the Shahzeb Khan’s murder case and present a charge sheet within 24 hours.
The Sindh police acting on the orders of the apex court had contacted the Interpol and had sent two of its high ranking officials to Dubai to seek Jatoi’s custody.
The Supreme Court of Pakistan on January 1 had taken notice of the murder of 20-year-old Shahzeb Khan, the son of a serving police DSP and had directed the authorities to produce the accused in court.
Shahzeb, son of DSP Aurangzaib, was shot dead near his home in Defence last year, creating panic in civil society. The killing resulted from a small argument he had with Talpur, when the latter’s servant verbally harassed his sister.
