Windows 8 was presented in October 2012 with new features in the interface design, among others. The software company gave a twist over previous versions, betting on an interface that adapts to both traditional
and computer touch screens.
The new OS from Redmond has been a significant increase in the number of certified systems compared to its total and general availability in late October. The innovation that Microsoft played with this new system has generated
great expectations in the sector and the company have recorded initial success in sales.
In fact, in the first weekend they managed to sell 40 million licenses, a number that far exceeded when Windows 7 was launched.
However, after this period it seemed that Windows 8 had stalled and had market share data of minors who were taken from Windows Vista, the company’s software that has been most criticized in recent years.
This trend has been improved through the holiday season and there are already systems certified for Windows 1700 and Windows 8 RT.
But the company have recorded strong sales growth after launching Windows 8 last year. Since opening the Windows Store, the number of downloaded applications has quadrupled only after two months of general availability.
