Free agent left-hander Francisco Liriano might not stay with Pittsburgh Pirates

Former Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Francisco Liriano might not sign with the Pittsburgh Pirates this offseason. His non throwing hand has been injured badly while this surely put his potential signing with the Pirates in jeopardy.
Liriano last played for the Chicago White Sox and went with good numbers. He achieved 5.34 ERA along with 6-12 win loss, 167 strikeouts and 1.47 WHIP. He has also achieved good career numbers of 4.40 ERA along with 53-54 win loss, 846 strikeouts and 1.35 WHIP.
Earlier Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle was quite confident to sign experienced Liriano as he said, “We’ve got big arms, with swing-and-miss stuff, others we’ve used in leverage situations, So I think we have the right guys available to us,”
He added, “Everybody thinks you’ve got to have a guy who has done it, You’d like to have somebody in waiting, but sometimes you don’t know who a guy is going to be. There’s a bunch of guys that never did it until they got their first opportunity. So for me, it’s about the opportunity, not so much about having a bona fide go-to guy.”
Some say if the Pirates could not sign Liriano, they can still play well in the next outing with some of the good pitchers. Currently they have A.J. Burnett, Vin Mazzaro and James McDonald.
Last season, Burnett achieved good numbers of 3.51 ERA along with 16-10 win-loss, 180 strikeouts and 1.24 WHIP. Overall he possesses good numbers of career 4.05 ERA along with 137-121 win loss, 1971 strikeouts and 1.32 WHIP.
Vin Mazzaro also did well in the last Major League Baseball season and went with good numbers 5.73 ERA along with 4-3 win-loss, 26 strikeouts and 1.68 WHIP while his career stats are also consistent at 5.22 ERA along with 15-21 win-loss, 174 strikeouts and 1.62 WHIP.
