Sony Dwi Kuncoro outshines Takuma Ueda in Men’s Singles quarter-finals – Korea Open Update

Indonesia’s spirited shuttler Sony Dwi Kuncoro served notice of his potential by beating Takuma Ueda in the quarter-final round of Victor Korea Open on Friday, January 11, 2013.

This Men’s Singles encounter remained in full swing for 45 minutes in the local badminton arena of Seoul, Korea and it ended with decisive figures of 21-17 and 21-15.

Kuncoro, who was underrated earlier in this tournament, registered his presence by sealing a straight-set victory.

On the other hand, the young Japanese campaigner failed to match his rival’s skills and crashed out in a disgraceful manner.

The victorious Indonesian player laid foundation of his supremacy straight away in the beginning of first set.

Kuncoro played cautiously in the establishing rallies but he then few uninterrupted points helped him to gain confidence.

He mounted pressure by piling up a decent total of 7 and then magnified the impact with an impressive total before the interval.

After the mid-game break, he did not drop his pace and widened the gap on points table. He added few valuable points in his total and put the opposing shuttler under huge pressure.

Though, Takuma Ueda made every effort to bounce back into the contest but his fluctuated performance led him to a 17-21 defeat.

The following game was also a sheer disappointment for the Japanese player as Kuncoro capitalised his first set win and sealed a splendid victory.

The Indonesian shuttler dominated the overall pace of rallies in the beginning and established an unassailable lead of six points.

He kept on moving forward at steady pace and left his challenger far behind with an amazing score of 21-15.

With this win, Kuncoro ensured his presence in the semi-final round where he will be up against Du Pengyu of China.
