Rasool should have gotten best player award, claim Essa and Lutfi
Thursday, January 17th, 2013 12:22:53 by Shahrukh SohailThe two Pakistani legends both reiterated that Mohammad Rasool deserved to be crowned as the Premier League’s best player not Muslim FC star Saeed Ahmed.
KRL coach Tariq Lutfi, who not only won the Pakistani top flight but also saw his protégé Kaleemullah pick up the top scorer award, went on to add that KESC star Rasool should have been given the gong instead of fellow International Saeed.
“Rasool, who scored 26 goals, made a big contribution to his team’s second place finish and he deserved the best player award,” added Lutfi.
“If Kaleemullah got the leading scorer award, the best player award was the right of Rasool who played a leading role in KESC’s splendid run. Saeed is also a good player and he deserved the emerging player award but it was not right to give him the best player award,” the former Pakistan boss continued.
KESC captain Mohammad Essa also had similar views and claimed that his teammate should have been given the recognition he deserves.
“I think Rasool did a splendid job for us and he deserved the best player award. He won for us several crucial games and he deserved the top prize,” said Essa while talking to the media.
