ASP and ISA excited about second annual Hainan Wanning Riyue Bay International Surfing Festival
Saturday, January 19th, 2013 10:40:35 by Muhammad Qasim HassanLess than a week is left for the second annual Hainan Wanning Riyue Bay International Surfing Festival to hit the beaches of China.
The collaboration between the International Surfing Association (ISA) and Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) will treat the fans of the sport to the second edition of ISA China Cup and 4-Star Hainan Classic, both of which delivered a heavy dose of thrilling action at the start of the previous year.
With an impressive competition field already announced for the event, the Chinese fans of surfing have a good reason to expect nothing but the most adrenaline-pumping action from the guests as well as local talent.
With some serious cash prize and coveted ASP World Tour rating points on offer at the upcoming ASP-sanctioned event, there is hardly any reason to believe that the surfers will not be giving their 100 percent during their heats.
ASP Australasia General Manager Dane Jordan is pretty excited about the second edition of the upcoming festival in China.
“A few years ago I never would have imagined kicking off the Australasian leg of the ASP World Tour in China!” said Jordan. “It’s a very exciting prospect for surf fans, the surfers and people in China. It’s also exciting to be working with the ISA again, last year’s Hainan Wanning Riyue Bay International Surfing Festival was the first time the ASP and ISA have collaborated on an event together and it’s fantastic for the sport. I can’t wait to get back there.”
ISA President Fernando Aguerre is also pretty optimistic about the two events and the amazing action that the surfing fans will get to witness.
He said that millions of people were exposed to surfing for the first time in their life last year due to the festival. This year, the aim is to introduce the sport to an even greater number of people.
