Maxence Parrot claim O’Neill Evolution Big Air victory
Monday, January 21st, 2013 11:06:37 by Muhammad Qasim HassanCanadian snowboarder Maxence Parrot put on a superb performance to take out the Ticket to Ride (TTR) 6Star O’Neill Evolution Big Air competition that concluded in Davos, Switzerland, on Saturday, January 19.
The remaining podium was filled up by America’s Kyle Mack, who finished in second place, and Norway’s Emil Ulsletten, who had to settle for third place, a result that he would surely not be too disappointed about.
While the night featured a series of exquisite runs from the four super-finalists, it was the third run by Parrot that remained the highlight.
The Canadian snowboarder had been seen practicing a triple cork for nearly a week in Davos and was therefore expected to land it at some stage during the competition.
Not letting the fans down, Parrot landed the highly-anticipated massive back-side triple cork 1440 mute spin in his first run and later landed it again, this time with an even cleaner landing. He backed it up with a board-slide and back-slide lip-slide on the two rail sections of the course to register a winning score of 96.8.
“I’m feeling amazing. That’s definitely the biggest run I’ve ever had in my life and that’s definitely also the most amazing triple I’ve done in my life, so I couldn’t be more happy right now,” Parrot said during his post-final interview.
Mack and Ulsletten were nothing short of impressive during the four-man super final either.
The young American rider put on a really solid run for a score of 95.00, thus barely missing out on the win.
The Norwegian snowboarder posted an 84.40 on the score-board of his best run, thus securing the last remaining spot on the podium.
