The Cleveland Indians took a drastic step on Tuesday evening as their management has given Ryan Raburn a Minor League contract.
Not only he has signed a Minor League contract with the Indians but he will be given a chance to play in the upcoming Spring Training and if he showed consistent performance, he might play in the upcoming Major League Baseball season.
Raburn last played for the Detroit Tigers and did well on the plate. His consistent batting certainly proved that he is an experienced player and will play a key role in his new team in Cleveland.
Last season, he did with the bat and received consistent hitting average of .171 along with one homer, 12 RBIs and .226. He also possesses career .256 hitting average along with 54 home runs, 216 RBIs and .311 OBP.
Experts within the Indians franchise now believe that Raburn’s addition in the Indians franchise is a healthy count and his presence will make a clear difference in their next season’s completion.
Along with Raburn, the Indians have also recently signed Mike Aviles. Aviles is confident about his new role in the Indians as he also spoke about new manager Terry Francona and his lively presence in the Tribe.
“I’d heard so much good stuff about him from afar, then in the short time I played for him I saw everything that everybody talked about, He made me feel like I came up through the system in Boston. He genuinely cares about his players, and when you have a manager like that, the players will run through a wall for him,” Aviles said.
Aviles added, “That’s who he is, He treats his players like family. You can trust him. When he says his door is always open, he means it. You can talk with him about anything at any time. That’s one of the reasons guys like to play for him so much.”
Fans are also showing optimism for their team and keeping their fingers crossed for the upcoming Major League Baseball season.
