Supreme Court constitutes separate bench over Kamran Faisal’s death
Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013 4:50:30 by Web DeskThe Supreme Court of Pakistan has constituted a two member bench to hear the case pertaining to Assistant Director NAB Kamran Faisal’s death.
According to the reports, Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry received a note from Registrar SC. Registrar SC mentioned all the details of the news which the news media is showing about Kamran Faisal’s death.
The SC made this note a petition and sent it to another bench which will hear the case tomorrow. A three member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the case Wednesday (today).
The apex court, in its order, said that the friends, family of Kamran Faisal had showed reservations over inquiry and according to them influential political and administration officials are involved in this Rental Power Projects (RPP) Implementation Case.
The court also said in its order that the protection of officers, who work with dedication and honesty, is the responsibility of state. The court also said that all the facts have been brought to court’s notice.
From tomorrow the hearing of Kamran Faisal Case will begin in the court’s room no 2 and Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja will head the bench.
When the proceedings began the CJ asked NAB Prosecutor that what actions have been taken regarding Kamran Faisal’s death? The NAB Prosecutor said that the police was working on this.
Justice Gulzar Ahmed remarked that, “Is any First Information Report (FIR) been registered over it?” A.K.Agha said that he did not know about it. Hearing this Chief Justice Iftikhar added that your officer has been dead and you did not even know about the FIR.
The court has adjourned the hearing of the Rental Power Projects (RPP) Implementation Case till January 29, 2013.
Faisal, who was investigating the rental power plants scam, involving the prime minister, was found hanging from the ceiling of his hostel room on Friday. Though an autopsy report ruled his death a suicide, the deceased’s family and colleagues disputed the findings and called for a judicial probe.
