Kapila Vanshika beats Shinde Tanmayi in qualifying round of All India Senior Ranking Tournament
Thursday, January 24th, 2013 3:58:20 by Ammad KhawajaWomen’s Singles expert Kapila Vanshika registered her class in the qualifying round of Smt.Vankina Anjani Devi Memorial All India Senior Ranking Tournament and thrashed Shinde Tanmayi on January 24, 2013.
This hard fought tussle was staged at the local badminton arena of Hyderabad and it remained in full swing for 30 minutes.
Both contenders earned great deal of admiration for their fighting spirit while piling up decisive figures of 24-22 and 23-21.
Kapila employed all of her experience and brilliance in the game and wrapped this showdown with a splendid straight-set victory.
Meanwhile, Shinde had to face a woeful exit despite of putting a decent effort in both sets of the match.
The opening game started with couple of gruelling rallies and both female shuttlers challenged each other in all areas and did not allow the opponent to establish a comfortable lead.
They remained close on the points table in the establishing rallies but then Kapila bagged few consecutive points and finished first half of the set with a respectable score.
She made best out of this advantage in third quarter of the set and strengthened her grip. Though, she lost focus in the final stage but then few productive rallies helped her to place a winning margin of 24-22.
The second set of the match was also a nerve-racking contest as both contenders put all they had to pocket this valuable match point.
Initially, Shinde played flawless badminton and got into commanding position but then Kapila switched on the best and tipped the scale in her favour.
She maintained a minor but decisive difference on the points table and raised hands as victor after putting 23-21 score on the board.
In her next match she was given walk over which took her into main round of this national tournament.
