Some reliable sources have speculated in the media recently that the New York Mets management is quite optimistic to land former Arizona Diamondbacks centre fielder Michael Bourn.
“We don’t want to lose our first-round draft pick, We think that’s one of the ways we got into the predicament we’ve had over the past couple of years. We’ve very wary of that. It’s not our M.O,” Mets’ Sandy Alderson told the Star-Ledger on Jan. 8.
Bourn last played for the Braves and batted well with a consistent hitting average of .274 along with nine home runs, 57 RBIs and .348 OBP. Not just in the last Major League outing but he has also done very well in his past season as he currently carries .272 hitting average along with 22 home runs, 215 RBIs and .339 OBP.
Alderson said on another occasion, “There’s been a lot of talk about our outfield and I want you to know that I’m in serious discussions with several outfielders I met on the Internet. There’s one I really like. He says he played at Stanford.”
Currently the Mets have some fine outfielders in the roster but the way their team played in the last season, their management now wants to add some more fire power in the batting lineup.
Mike Baxter along with Collin Cowgill and Lucas Duda make a fine offensive thrust but if the Mets able to land Bourn in the roster as well, their attacking lineup will shatter every team in the next season.
Baxter were exceptional in the field last season as he achieved .239 hitting average along with 15 homers, 57 RBIs and .329 OBP. Cowgill also showed his true offensive class as he received good hitting average of .269 along with one homer, nine RBIs and .336 OBP.
Duda however, was little out of form last season as he achieved .329 OBP hitting some 15 homers but experts believe that in the very next season, he will regain his lost form.
