2013 Cyprus International: Joe Morgan, Nic Strange clutch Men’s Doubles trophy

Men’s Doubles partners Joe Morgan and Nic Strange of Wales forged a fruitful chemistry and claimed the crown in 25th Li-Ning Winter Sun Cyprus International on January 27, 2013.

They were up against the twosome of Sam Parsons and Rhys Walker and this encounter prolonged for 49 minutes before ending with 24-22, 19-21 and 21-14 margin.

This nerve-racking tussle took place in the local badminton arena of Nicosia and both teams earned great deal of admiration for putting a splendid show of badminton skills.

The game kept swinging between them all the way to final moments and their mesmerising performance kept the audience intact until last shot was played.

Initially, Joe and Nic struggled a bit but they did not take much time to end their bad patch and locked the honour in a commendable manner.

The first set of the match started with couple of gruelling rallies as both pairs put all they had to gain an early advantage.

They remained equal in the establishing rallies but then the British duo struck hard to tip the scale in its favour.

However, Joe and Nic did not lose heart and served the notice of their class in latter part of the game.

They managed to tip the scale in their favour when it mattered and bagged this valuable match point with 24-22 score on the board.

The second set changed the scenario as Sam and Rhys played with great conviction and brought the contest to right balance.

This time the British campaigners did not repeat previous mistakes and gained an unassailable lead in the beginning.

They kept on moving forward at steady pace and got into commanding position with a decent figure of 11.

After the one-minute interval, they widened the gap on points table and finished this crucial game with 21-19 total.

The decider locked both pairs in a tough competition as they were just one step away from the top spot on victory stand.

They remained close until the half time but then Joe and Nic emerged as champions after putting 21-14 score on the board.
