Kazusa Araya and Alanna Bowles pocket gold medals – Australian Youth Olympic Festival

Kazusa Araya and Alanna Bowles pocketed gold medals of the Men’s 200m breaststroke and Women’s 800m freestyle respectively at the 2012 Australian Youth Olympic Festival.

With his impeccable pace, Araya out-touched his toughest competitor over the finishing wall for gold medal by producing an effort of 2 minutes and 15.80 seconds.

His title claiming effort stayed 0.15 seconds faster from his closest competitor, Mamoru Mori, who reached the podium for silver medal by clocking an effort of 2 minutes and 15.95 seconds.

The second fastest swimmer was trailed by Joshua Tierney, who remained nearly full body length behind and completed the podium by winning bronze medal with the timing of 2 minutes and 16.71 seconds.

Fourth best spot of the swim was gained by George Schroder, who was considerably slower from his former finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 19.42 seconds.

Schroder was followed by James Dergousoff, who stayed almost two seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing blockade for fifth position by reporting a time of 2 minutes and 21.35 seconds.

On the other hand, Bowles captured the title of 800m discipline. With her notable pace, she remained in a considerable lead over her competitors and tapped the wall for gold medal with an effort of 2 minutes and 38.61 seconds.

The first position holder was followed by Amelia Gould, who stayed two body lengths behind and touched the wall for second position with an effort of 8 minutes and 40.35 seconds.

The silver medallist was trailed by Tsuzumi Hasegawa, who was 7.40 seconds away from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall for bronze medal by producing a time of 8 minutes and 47.75 seconds.

The bronze medallist was chased by Alexandra Aitchison, who remained almost eight seconds slower and emerged on the finishing end for fourth position by clocking a time of 8 minutes and 55.25 seconds.

In addition, the arena appreciated notable efforts of all participants while the winners collected accolades at the victory ceremony of the event.
