Bobby Milroy stuns Alex Pang in final round of 2013 Yonex Canadian National Championships

Men’s Singles event of Yonex Canadian National Championships observed an unexpected result as Bobby Milroy thrashed Alex Pang in the title match on February 2, 2013.

This clash of the titans prolonged to 38 minutes before ending with final figures of 21-17 and 21-16. This short-lived tussle kept the audience intact until the last shot was played.

Both compatriot shuttlers challenged each other in all departments of the game and made this a memorable contest.

However, Bobby managed to dominate his higher ranked rival in both segments of the showdown and claimed the Men’s Singles crown.

He laid foundation of his supremacy straight away in the beginning and maintained his control all the way to final moments.

In first set of the match, he was bit sluggish in the establishing rallies and his passive approach allowed Alex to establish a decent lead.

Bobby took some time to read his opponent’s strategy but he managed to stay close on the points table until the half time.

After the mid-game break, he ruled the court in few consecutive rallies and made a notable difference. He made best out of this advantage in third quarter of the set and wrapped this crucial set with a favourable score of 21-17.

This timely win proved real boost for him and he played with even more conviction in the second set.

Initially, Alex did not show any sign of confusion and gained a decent advantage on the points table. He was in commanding position until the one-minute break but then few back-to-back mistakes weakened his grip.

On the other hand, Bobby did not squander this opportunity and tipped the scale in his favour. He maintained that upper hand all the way to game point situation and claimed top spot on the victory stand with 21-16 margin.
