New York Mets to sign former Blue Jays right-hander Brandon Lyon, claim sources

A Major League Baseball source is quite sure about the deal between the New York Mets and right hander reliever Brandon Lyon’s agent.

Later ESPN also confirmed that some similar news is also roaming around in the media as former Toronto Blue Jays’ utility player now will be signing a fresh deal with the South New York baseball franchise.

In 2012 MLB season, he played exceptionally for the Blue Jays and showed his valour. His offensive game earned him appreciation from the entire Blue Jays roster.

Earlier news also came out in the Canadian media that the Toronto based franchise will likely to re-sign Lyon but later both sides could not agree on any mutual understanding.

Despite not been able to re-sign with the Blue Jays, Lyon’s performance was quite consistent throughout the season. He finished the season with achieving 3.10 ERA along with one save, 63 strikeouts and 1.25 WHIP.

Overall he is also carrying a good career ERA of 4.12 along with 79 total saves, 442 strikeouts and 1.25. That is also one of the main reasons that Lyon is getting a good response from the Mets as his career stats are pretty persistent.

Before coming into the Mets’, the talented reliever has also played for the Boston Red Sox, Arizona Diamondbacks, Detroit Tigers and Houston Astros.

The Mets, who recently have also signed some of the big names in the league, now are going into their final stage of signing fresh players for the 2013 Major League Baseball season.

The Mets bullpen with inclusion of Scott Atchison, LaTroy Hawkins and Pedro Feliciano is already looking very impressive. All these relievers all well established and will certainly provide a good offensive attack to the dire Mets bullpen.
