Dortmund dismiss Lewandowski Bayern link
Thursday, February 7th, 2013 1:52:36 by Rizwan KazmiThe Poland international has been rumoured to join the Bavarian giants, but his side are not willing to part ways with him as he does not want to sign a contract extension.
Borussia Dortmund general manager Hans-Joachim Watzke has denied speculation that star striker Robert Lewandowski is set to join league leaders’ Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window. The attacker is expected to leave at the end of the current season and refuses to discuss his future at Signal Iduna Park.
Recent rumours claim that the forward is very near to agreeing personal terms with Der FCB, but Watzke stated that the Black Yellows will not let him leave under any circumstances.
“This is nothing but speculation. There’s zero substance in the reports and there’s not even a primary source,” Watzke added.
“The fact is that Robert has a contract with Dortmund until the summer of 2014, and we want to extend his stay,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
“We will sit down and discuss what to do next if he hasn’t signed a new deal by the end of the season, but we will definitely not let go of him for just any price,” he mused.
“It’s nice that clubs are interested and make enquiries, but I have told everyone that I don’t want to hear anything about it until the end of the season. I am focused on Borussia Dortmund,” he mused.
“I will listen to everybody in the summer when I sit down with my agents. I don’t care about all the speculation. I will make my decision at the end of the season,” he finally concluded.
Watzke further added that Robert is contracted to the BVB until the summer of 2014, and the reigning German champions want him to sign a new deal at the club.
