Closing pitcher Sergio Romo has agreed to San Francisco Giants to a two-year deal.
Earlier news came out in the San Francisco media that four-year Major League veteran Romo is heading to a potential salary arbitration.
However, now it has been confirmed by multiple sources that Romo will be playing for the Giants for two more years.
Romo is considered one of the major closers in the San Francisco’s bullpen who outnumbered everyone in the last Major League outing and played a key role in his team’s World Series winning run.
He remained consistent on the mound throughout the last season and achieved persistent stats. He showed great plays by throwing at 1.79 ERA along with 14 saves, 63 strikeouts and 0.85 WHIP.
Along with a good 2012 numbers, Romo has also consistent career stats with 2.20 ERA along with 17 saves, 277 strikeouts and 0.88 WHIP.
Meanwhile, many experts are calling this recent development a very good thing for the Giants. They will go strong on offensive front in the next season.
Along with Romo, the Giants have well established players in their roster. Currently the Giants have experienced Clay Hensley, Javier Lopez and Santiago Casilla. All these relievers possess good Major League experience and know their respective roles in the team.
Clay Hensley was exceptional in the last MLB outing with his consistent 4.62 ERA along with three saves, 42 strikeouts and 1.58 WHIP.
Javier Lopez did well with his 2.50 ERA and Santiago Casilla also proved his valour by achieving 2.84 ERA and 1.22 WHIP.
These performances of experienced Giants’ player show that the San Francisco side still can defend their 2012 World Series title and still can win back to back trophies.
