The Houston Astros general manager Bud Norris has denied any possibility that the team is considering trading him.
Right now, we’re not having any discussions with teams about Bud Norris,” Luhnow said during a national TV interview. “He’s projected to be one of our starters. We’ve had a good run with him and we’re going to continue to have a good run with him.”
Earlier speculations were on the rise that experienced starting pitcher could be traded to another Major League team.
“We’re willing to talk to any club about any player if we feel the deal furthers our strategy in developing the best young talent in baseball,” Luhnow said.
Norris had a wonderful last season and achieved consistent numbers of 4.65 ERA along with 7-13 win-loss, 165 strikeouts and 1.37 WHIP.
Along with a good 2012 Major League outing, Norris is carrying a solid career ERA of 4.42 along with 28-37 win loss, 553 strikeouts and 1.40 WHIP.
Experts say it is a good and healthy sign that the Astros management is not trading Norris and keeping him for future seasons.
Meanwhile, GM Luhnow, who is looking quite busy in handling the Astros other big concerns, recently told some reporters that Houston baseball franchise knows and bringing potential strategic changes in the team ranging from new payroll to young players’ addition.
“I think people are focusing on what the Major League payroll is, and I think the reality is we’re making a huge investment in our people, We’re going to spend close to $20 million acquiring prospects through the amateur draft and international process,” GM said.
Luhnow added, “We’re investing in our teachers at the Minor League level, we’re investing in our capabilities to develop young talent and we’re staying consistent with our strategy, which is to develop the best young talent in baseball and be as consistently competitive as soon as possible.”
He further added for the team’s policies, “We’re not going to do something to improve a few games in 2013 that comes at the expense of our ability to compete over the long haul.”
With all those potential changing and new playing strategies coming up, the Astros certainly will come-up with a new drive in the next Major League Baseball season.
