Star pitcher Justin Verlander wants contract extension with Detroit Tigers

Detroit Tigers ace starting pitcher Justin Verlander is considered one of the most feared Major League Baseball pitchers. He is playing in the Tigers since 2005 and has showed his class during all these seven years.

After coming off with a spectacular season in which he struck out total 239 hitters, Verlander recently talked to some media personals and told them about his passion and love for the team he has been playing since arriving on the big stage of baseball.

“My agent knows where I stand,” Verlander said. “He knows I love Detroit. I feel like I’m a kindred part of that town. I grew up in front of these fans, and earned my way into their hearts, and it doesn’t very often anymore where a guy sticks with one team his whole career. It just doesn’t happen. You don’t get that kind of loyalty from either side.”

Earlier in the month, a debate was consistently in the media headlines that Verlander might be given a new contract by the Tigers management.

“If something goes on, and we’re in the middle of negotiations, that’s a decision I’ll have to make,” Verlander says, “whether I want to shut it down, or continue.

“I would think, knowing me, and how I don’t like distractions, it might be a good idea not to talk about anything during the season. But maybe my agent has a different opinion on that. Maybe he can say [to the Tigers], “Tell me where you’re at, and I can come to you. Hey, we’re here. What do you think?’”

Justin Verlander is certainly a wonderful player and experts are also saying that if the Tigers do give him another extension on his current contract, which definitely will be a very positive development.

However, the Tigers, despite the fact they know how wonderful and persistent Verlander is, still taking their time to respond to this somewhat media hype.
