Multiple sources are claiming that former Detroit Tigers and Oakland Athletics third baseman Brandon Inge is agreed to sign with the Pittsburgh Pirates’ Minor League affiliates.
Though no reliable MLB source has confirmed this news but many say as the confirmation will come soon by the Pirates management.
Inge is a talented infielder and has very good career record at third base. He is also good with the bat as his last year’s hitting average remained consistent at .218 along with 12 homers, 54 RBIs and .275 OBP.
Along with a good past season’s record with the Athletics, he is also carrying good career numbers of .234 hitting average along with 151 home runs, 641 RBIs and .303 OBP. Experts agree that Inge’s potential arrival will make the Pirates’ offence stronger.
Meanwhile, the new Pirates catcher Russell Martin is speaking openly in the local media and saying that he is ready to take the Pittsburgh to another level next season. Pirates have recently signed him with a lucrative two-year deal.
“Pittsburgh had, hands-down, the best deal available,” Martin said. “It was hard to decline that or to be patient (for another offer) when that was available.”
Martin added, “It’s the business side of it, and I’ve got no problem with it, Would I have enjoyed to play with the Yankees? Of course. Who wouldn’t? It’s a great environment to play in, a winning environment. But I didn’t get that opportunity, so I’m going to do my best with the opportunity I do have now.”
He further added Martin, “Everybody’s in first place right now, that’s the way I see it, Whatever happened in the past, you can’t change it. But what you can do is get your mind right and ready for the season coming up. If we all do that, we can change history.”
Martin is coming from the New York Yankees where he played a good season achieving .211 hitting average along with 21 home runs, 53 RBIs and .311 OBP.
