After 5-year in power MQM quits federal, provincial governments
Saturday, February 16th, 2013 10:39:27 by Tahir KhanThe Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Saturday announced they are quitting the federal and Sindh governments over differences with the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)-led governments.
The MQM enjoyed ministries for five years and parted ways with the government when the assemblies will complete term in few weeks.
The people in the country were surprised at the MQM move and say the group is completely responsible for the mess in the country as it supported every decision of the government in five years.
The MQM has many times quit the government in the past but quickly rejoined it.
MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar made the announcement at a press conference after the party’s Rabita Committee meeting. He accused the ruling party of not implementing the local government bill in the province despite of passing it from the assembly.
He said that the decision will not be withdrawn, knowing that the assemblies will dissolved in mid-March.
He said that the local bodies system was evolved but was not implemented in the province in letter and spirit. Similarly‚ the notorious criminals are out in Karachi with the backing of the government. He referred to a number of other incidents of non cooperation by the PPP.
Meanwhile‚ MQM leader Altaf Hussain has expressed concern over deteriorating law and order situation in Karachi and urged the government to take effective measures in this regard.
Talking to the members of the MQM Rabita Committee in Karachi from London on Saturday‚ he said he has always called for peace and reconciliation.
