Hans Vittinghus fails to overpower Marc Zwiebler in 2013 European Mixed Team Championships
Monday, February 18th, 2013 2:30:26 by Ammad KhawajaDenmark’s ace shuttler Hans-Kristian Vittinghus failed to employ his brilliance in the last round of European Mixed Team Championships and lost to Marc Zwiebler on February 17, 2013.
This 46-minute tussle proved real test of mental and physical fitness for both contenders as it lasted for three gruelling sets.
The German campaigner laid foundation of his supremacy immediately in the first set and sealed his splendid win by winning the final set.
On the other hand, Hans Vittinghus could rise only in the middle of the battle and surrendered after reading final scores of 17-21, 21-7 and 8-21.
The first set started with couple of gruelling rallies as both male shuttlers put all they had to gain an early advantage.
However, Marc Zwiebler did not take much time to establish a decent lead. He bagged many valuable points in arrow and finished first half of the set with a respectable total.
After the mid-game break, the German player maintained a significant difference on the points table and won this crucial game with an overwhelming result of 21-17.
The following game brought the contest to right balance as Hans Vittinghus did not allow his rival to transform his 1-0 lead into a straight-set victory.
This time the Danish campaigner played with an authoritative approach and kept his competitor at the lower end.
He mounted pressure by registering a decent figure of 11 before the interval and then magnified the impact by putting a winning score of 21-7.
This backlash of Hans Vittinghus was a hope for his team mates but he buried all those hopes with a below par performance in the decider. He kept on making fatal mistakes and finally knelt down after reading a shameful margin of 8-21.
