Tuesday, February 19th, 2013 1:47:14 by Umair HassanThe Chicago Cubs left fielder Alfonso Soriano is feeling quite discomfort with his current franchise as his late comments advocate that he wants to be traded to another Major League team.
“I want to go somewhere where I’d feel comfortable,” the seven-time All Star veteran Soriano said Monday.
Soriano knows that the Cubs are having a bad time after losing 101 games in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
“[The Cubs] know what teams,” Soriano said of a trade this season. “We talked, my agent talked with those guys. I don’t even think about it [a trade], If they want to go somewhere else I just take it day by day and see what happens.”
Soriano is playing with the Cubs since 2007 and he still got two more years on his current contract. The experienced infielder has a no-trade clause on his contract which barred his previous potential trade to San Francisco Giants. However, this time, he might let the Cubs’ authorities to trade him to another team.
“We’ve had a really good dialogue with Soriano and [agent] Pat Rooney,” general manager Jed Hoyer said. “I’ll leave those discussions between Soriano, Pat Rooney and the Cubs. He’s been honest with us when we’ve discussed certain destinations with him.”
Soriano is a very good player and according to many experts, big Major League franchises will easily adjust him into their respective roster if the Cubs’ do trade him in near future potentially before the 2013 season.
Soriano was exceptional in the last Major League outing in where he played quite consistently and achieved .262 hitting average along with 32 home runs, 108 RBIs and .322 OBP. Overall he has also good career hitting average of .273 along with 372 home runs, 1035 RBIs and .323 OBP.
