Alia Atkinson and Felipe Lima win gold medals – Arena Grand Prix

Alia Atkinson and Felipe Lima won gold medals of the 100m breaststroke in Women and Men’s corner respectively on first day of the 2013 Arena Grand Prix.

Atkinson stayed in a half body length lead over her closest competitor and surfaced on the wall for gold medal with a timing of 1 minute and 08.51 seconds.

The gold medallist was traced by Katie Meili, who was 0.49 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and clocked a time of 1 minute and 09.00 seconds for silver medal.

Meili was trailed by Rebecca Ejdervik, who remained only 0.49 seconds apart and secured third position of the race by producing an effort of 1 minute and 09.49 seconds.

Fourth finest position of the swim was secured by Margarethe Hummel, who stayed full body length behind and tapped the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 10.30 seconds.

Fifth best spot of the race was secured by Martha McCabe, who stayed 0.46 seconds away from her foregoing finisher and settled on the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 10.76 seconds.

On the other hand, Lima occupied gold medal of the same event in Men’s category. He faced strong contest from his toughest challenger and surfaced on the finishing end for gold medal by producing a time of 1 minute and 00.86 seconds.

The champion was chased by Mike Alexandrov, who stayed only 0.04 seconds behind and finished second in the event by clocking a time of 1 minute and 00.90 seconds.

Third best spot of the race was gained by Bradley Craig, who remained 2.38 seconds behind and clocked a time of 1 minute and 03.28 seconds.

Craig was followed by Azad Al-barazi, who was just 0.11 seconds behind and touched the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 03.39 second for fourth position.

Fifth position of the event was obtained by Carlos Claverie, who stayed 0.09 seconds behind and hit the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 03.48 seconds

Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades at the victory ceremony of the event.
