Annie Xu tames Kerry Xu to secure Girl’s Singles title at USA Badminton Junior International Trials

Annie Xu, an emerging female shuttler from USA, showed her staggering spirit in the arena and earned Girl’s Singles U15 title after defeating her higher ranked challenger Kerry Xu in the final of USA Badminton Junior International Trials 2013 on Tuesday, February 19, in USA.

The in-form Annie, who was the second seeded shuttler in Girl’s Singles U15 draw of the championship, played with incredible control and remained successful in beating the top seeded Kerry in a convincing way.

Annie continued her roller coaster performance in the final contest of the tournament as she played with incredible speed and aggression that helped her to overpower Kerry in straight games with a decent margin of 21-17 and 21-17.

Kerry, in contrast, could not stretch her winning streak while playing against her lower team-mate. She lost her focus at the crucial stages of the championship and ultimately became a prey to Annie in just 22 minutes.

The amazing speed and attacking shots of Annie favoured her to take control of the pace from the initial points of first set and she occupied the driving seat without showing any mercy to her challenger.

The incredible variations in Annie’s strokes helped her to continue her superiority in the arena. She progressed with a superb speed in the starting half and remained ahead on score board until the break.

The top seeded Kerry could not change things around after the one-minute break as she failed to dominate the pace of rallies and remained struggling to take the bird early.

The positive and attacking play of Annie helped her to maintain her domination on court and she easily claimed the opening game with a convincing margin of 21-17.

Things were not much different in the second set of this entertaining battle as Annie played in the similar aggressive fashion.

Until the end of first half, the incredible Annie remained consistent in playing with impressive command and variations and stayed ahead on score board.

In the second half of second game, the incredible Annie continued her power play and easily secured the set by a decent difference of 21-17.
