Kroos happy with victory against Arsenal
Wednesday, February 20th, 2013 1:05:31 by Rizwan KazmiThe Germany international scored the first goal at the Emirates Stadium, helping his side get a brilliant victory over the Gunners in the Champions League.
Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Toni Kroos expressed his satisfaction from the display of the Bundesliga side in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League clash against Arsenal FC. The young prodigy put in an amazing performance in London, and said that they deserved the important victory on Tuesday.
The playmaker was delighted to register a crucial win against a top European club. He admitted that the English Premier League side caused a few problems at the start of the match, but did not pay much heed to that.
“During a long part of the game we showed an outstanding performance against a top European team. We played very confidently,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
“There was just one short phase where Arsenal were better and had some chances, but you cannot always prevent that,” he added.
“For me, the third goal was very important, but it is too early to write Arsenal off,” he said.
“In the first 30 minutes we did very well. We passed the ball and chased the opponents across the pitch. We were very efficient,” he mused.
“Of course I did not want that [to miss the second leg]. I did not throw the ball away very far and it was not a foul by Thomas Muller before. There were many yellow cards tonight, there should have not been [as many] yellow cards,” he finally concluded.
On the other hand, Bastian Schweinsteiger agreed with his international colleague but claimed that Arsenal are still very much in the tie. He stated that the 3rd goal was icing on the cake, and expects Bayern to go through into the quarter finals.
