The New York Yankees star third baseman Alex Rodriguez has reassured that his recent injury will not change his mind to play for another Major League Baseball franchise as he is happy to play with the team where he has been playing since 2004.
“Right now I’m dedicating 100% of my energy and focus on my rehabilitation. I am conducting two rehab sessions each and every day in an effort to get back on the field and rejoin my Yankees teammates,” Rodriguez said in his statement. “I think we have a great team and I want to be a part of it.”
Rodriguez was injured during the post 2012 season as he has recently had a left hip surgery and now in recovering process.
“It’s going to be odd that he’s not here, It’s going to be weird not having him here. He’s been a part of this team since 2004, so it’s going to be awkward,” New York Yankees skipper and shortstop Derek Jeter said for Rodriguez’s support.
The Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira also said for Rodriguez, “There’s 90 guys in there right now; even if he was here I’m not sure I’d see him, It’s busy in there right now. Once the season starts, it will be weird to not have him around.”
The 19-year Major League veteran Rodriguez had a good 2012 season in which he batted at an average of .272 and hit 18 homers. Overall he is carrying good career .300 hitting average along with .348 OBP.
Yankees’ team doctors are optimistic that Rodriguez will certainly a make fine comeback next season. He is recovering fast and will be available on Opening Day.
