Tyler Clary and Missy Franklin win gold medals – Arena Grand Prix

Tyler Clary and Missy Franklin won gold medals of the Men’ s 400m Individual Medley (IM) and Women’s 200m backstroke respectively on first day of the 2013 Arena Grand Prix.

Clary remained in a comfortable lead over his opponent and tapped the wall for the title with an effort of 4 minutes and 24.56 seconds.

The champion was traced by Esteban Enderica, who was 0.56 seconds slower from him and stepped on the victory stand for silver medal by touching the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 25.12 seconds.

Enderica was followed by Conor Dwyer, who was only 0.18 seconds slower from his former finisher and occupied bronze medal of the race with an effort of 4 minutes and 25.30 seconds.

Dwyer was trailed by Brandon Flynn, who remained almost six seconds behind and settled on the wall as fourth fastest swimmer by reporting an effort of 4 minutes and 31.28 seconds.

Fifth spot of the event was obtained by Miguel Robles Castro, who stayed 1.08 seconds slower and emerged on the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 32.36 seconds.

On the other hand, Franklin occupied the title of 200m backstroke. Franklin remained in a prominent lead over her toughest challenger and surfaced on the wall for gold medal with a timing of 2 minutes and 07.31 seconds.

The first position holder was followed by Hilary Caldwell, who remained almost five seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and ended second in the race by producing a time of 2 minutes and 12.13 seconds.

Third spot of the race was gained by Miyuki Takemura, who remained one and a half body length slower from her former finisher and stepped on the podium for bronze medal by clocking a time of 2 minutes and 13.74 seconds.

Fourth position of the race was secured by Lauren Lavigna, who was only 0.03 seconds slower from Takemura and settled on the finishing end with an effort of 2 minutes and 13.77 seconds.

In addition, the position holders were awarded medals after the session.
